Thoughts From Our Staff

Year two proved to be another busy one with many highlights for Cinema Scholars. We welcomed several new writers to the team, and our coverage of both classic and current TV and film grew accordingly. Returning to festivals like Tribeca and Fantastic Fest, Cinema Scholars also covered both South By Southwest and the ATX TV Festival as official press for the first time.
The site also celebrated many high-profile interviews with various filmmaking talent including Ryan Phillippe and Lance Henrikson. With all this momentum, we hope to branch out even more very soon. Here’s to another year of wins at Cinema Scholars!

As I stated last year around this time, this is a difficult field to break into. With all the many websites out there, it ain’t easy to make a dent. Fortunately, we seem to have done just that. Our numbers on social media (Facebook and Twitter, specifically) over the last two years have skyrocketed thanks to our loyal readers and, especially, the hard work of the people that help make this Site run. I’d personally like to thank everyone who contributed to our website over the last year. We wouldn’t be where we are without you. Oh, and we got a new logo too!

Even as we close in on our five-hundredth article, we understand that long-form journalism is slowly becoming a dying art form. The future, for better or for worse, lies with audio/visual. Podcasts and YouTube are both thriving in the entertainment industry and that’s especially true with regards to film theory and film critique. As such, we are making plans to bring you podcasts and video features that will help launch this website into its next phase. We hope that you will continue to support us and stick with us. Here’s to the next year!
